Our response to the Council’s Draft Air Quality Action Plan 2022

5 December 2022

Cheltenham Borough Council has finally published a Draft Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP). Local councils have a legal responsibility to prepare a plan every 5 years, with measures to improve local air quality.

The last AQAP expired in 2019 – it has taken 3 years of chasing by Clean Air Cheltenham for the Borough Council to finally publish a draft of the new one.

Unfortunately, we think it is – just like the previous AQAP – woefully lacking in ambition and bereft of any concrete actions that might actually reduce air pollution.

We have prepared a detailed response, which you can download here. Please do so, and let your local councillor know what you think!
