Resources
British Lung Foundation
A medical research charity that campaigns for cleaner air. Their website has a Clean Air Map for the UK. It also runs the Clean Air Parents Network to bring parents and carers together to call for cleaner air for children.
Our Children’s Air
Three prominent mothers and clean air advocates have joined forces to gather stories from parents around the world whose children’s health has been affected by air pollution and raise concern about their children’s future.
Purple Air
Real-time air pollution data from the latest generation of laser particle counters. There are two in Cheltenham already – and we are crowdfunding – to get more installed locally.
Sensor Community
A worldwide citizen’s science project, using a low-cost particulates sensor that can be built at home. If you’d like to get involved, Air Apparent in Bristol can help you build your own monitor.
UK Air
The offical government/DEFRA site, providing a wide range of information on air pollution.
DEFRA also provide access to the UK Air database. You can download air pollution monitoring data from all the DEFRA network monitoring sites in the UK. (There isn’t one within 40 miles of Cheltenham, though, unfortunately.)
BreatheLife
A global campaign group for clean air, backed by the World Health Organisation and the UN Environment Programme.
Doctors Against Diesel
Doctors Against Diesel aims to reduce the impacts of air pollution on children’s health. It campaigns for highly polluting diesel vehicles to be phased out from UK towns and cities, and policies supporting the choice to walk, cycle or take public transport as healthy and safe alternatives to driving.
Possible
An organisation which aims to inspire climate action. Some good resources on Car-Free Cities.
