Clean Air Day in Cheltenham, 8 October 2020
8 October 2020
Our first Clean Air Day in Cheltenham. COVID-19 meant there were lots of planned events that we couldn’t do… but there was still lots happening.
In conjunction with Vision 21, we had a street stall outside John Lewis, where we met many local residents concerned about air pollution. And we were pleased that Cheltenham’s Mayor, Roger Whyborn paid us a visit.
Chris Chavasse, Cheltenham’s Senior Tree Officer, gave a fascinating (and socially distanced) exploration of some of the trees in Pittville Crescent:
Acclaimed author Tim Smedley signed copies of his book ‘Clearing the Air‘ at Suffolk Anthology. If you only read one book on air pollution, this has to be the one. Brilliantly written, and also optimistic about how we can tackle the problem of air pollution.
Karen Soo led a well-attended Qi-Jong session outside the Pump Room; Anna Saunders led two sold out online poetry workshops which received great feedback from the participants.
The Catch your Breath exhibition (still available online) is a beautiful gem of ideas, insights and history.
And we’ve heard back that many people watched one or more of the Clean Air Day Live online seminars. Whatever your particular interest or concern about air pollution, these webinars offer many useful insights and stories of what other people in the country are doing.
